A solid sterling silver Cartier men's dress watch on its original Cartier lizard signed band, with original crossed C's logo buckle. This is an elegant and classic wristwatch, and one that is quite unusual. The simple square framed case, with clean drop, squared off lugs creates the perfect frame to the immediately recognizable clean, white enamel Roman dial with inner square chapter ring. The classic blued steel trademark Cartier hands that are seen across the line are also used here. As is the bullet cabochon sapphire set winding crown.
The snap case back is signed 'Cartier' along with '0.925' and 'Sterling', 'Swiss', and the Swiss control 'Duck' mark for 925. Inside the case is makers mark "AC". The watch is powered by a seventeen jewel, mechanical, manual wound movement, caliber 7040 made by Peseux.
The dial is signed with the script Cartier signature that is found on most watches from this period, and printed with "Swiss" at the six o'clock position, and is all original and not re-finished. There is no luminous material on the dial or hands, as is common with dress watches. There is a small crack to the enamel between the six and seven o'clock. It has lifted a little from the dial, but does not distract overall, and will be stable. But, it is being pointed out for transparency. (Please see close up picture to view)
The watch is presented in excellent original and untouched, unpolished condition throughout. The original glass crystal is fitted. There are a couple of scratches in it, but it has a very appealing convex shape to it, so it has been left in as the overall visual of having it outweighs the slight damage. This is an unusual model, and very different for having been made in sterling silver and not steel. Swiss made, circa 1980's.
